Description

Wow, this took work. Here we have 200 characters I love, from movies, books, games, comic strips, cartoons, whatever.

The blank meme can be found here.

I decided to arrange them with my absolute favorite on top, then two more top favorites in the second row, then everyone else in alphabetical order, usually by the name they're best known by (for example, Albus Dumbledore is under D instead of A).

Okay, here's a LONG rambling about them all.

Row 1:

HAN SOLO (Star Wars). I've said a lot about him, but he's my Number 1 Favorite Character of All Time. He's hilarious, cocky, sarcastic, headstrong, and yet tender-hearted, decent, and smart as well.

Row 2:

Esmeralda (The Hunchback of Notre Dame). She's been one of my faves since I was twelve. I love her sharp mouth, her attitude, her heart, and how she's so frustrated with how the world is.

Captain Amelia (Treasure Planet). A VERY underrated character. She's sharp, no-nonsense, and GOD, that vocabulary is dizzying - in a good way.

Row 3:

3 (9). The silent twins 3 and 4 are so charming the way they catalogue everything and communicate through the cutest gestures.

4 (9). See above. 4 and his twin 3 are so CUTE.

Ahsoka Tano (Star Wars: The Clone Wars). I love how she's so feisty and how her Jedi training and her conscience are sometimes in conflict. Plus she fights holding her lightsaber backwards, which is just awesome.

Aisling (The Secret of Kells). The mischievous little fairy is so incredibly appealing the instant she comes onscreen. And GOD, her singing is just haunting.

Akima (Titan A.E.) Another underrated character. She's a great pilot at age nineteen and determined to save humanity. Love that hair, too.

Amelie Poulain (Amelie). She has one of the most unique imaginations I've ever seen on film and she's SO cute.

Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader (Star Wars). Both an awesome hero AND an awesome villain. Took me a while to decide which incarnation to use for the picture, so I decided on Anakin post-dark side and pre-suit as kind of a melding of the two.

Row 4:

Angel Dumachshunard (Rent). One of the best portrayals of a transgendered male I've ever seen. He makes a great woman and he can charm everyone around him.

Aragorn (Lord of the Rings). I love how he's a rougue hero and he doesn't think of himself as heroic - in fact he hides deep insecurity within him.

Arwen (Lord of the Rings). She is so downright beautiful, but in the physical sense and the character sense. She's soft-spoken and yet strong.

Audrey Rameriz (Atlantis: The Lost Empire). I love how she's both feisty and sweet.

Princess Azula (Avatar: The Last Airbender). She's cold-hearted and yet completely awesome.

Captain Barbossa (Pirates of the Carribean). I'm not sure exactly why I love him. Maybe it's Geffory Rush's performance. Or maybe it's just that undead pirate captains are cool.

Barrel (The Nightmare Before Christmas). The three evil little trick-are-treaters are just awesome. I could sing Kidnap the Sandy Claws all day.

Barriss Offee (Star Wars/Star Wars: The Clone Wars). She's mainly here because I ship her and Ahsoka (Barrissoka forever!). She was just a walk-on in the movies, but then in Clone Wars she got this really appealing, soft-spoken personality.

Beatrix Kiddo aka The Bride (Kill Bill). She's a many-layered assassin and she's just plain awesome.

Beeker (The Muppets). Just a few words about how adorable he is. Me me me me meep!

Bellatrix Lestrange (Harry Potter). So deliciously evil! Love the wild hair too.

Row 5:

Bert (Sesame Street). Ah, I remember acting out Ernie and Bert segments with my dolls when I was little. I love Bert the long-suffering straight man.

Bill (Kill Bill). Though the whole movie is about killing him, once you see him you realize how incredibly charming he is, which opens up all kinds of layers.

Buzz Lightyear (Toy Story). Who doesn't love this delusional toy who thinks he's a real spaceman and has to learn the hard way that he's not? Who didn't want to hug him when his arm broke off?

C-3PO (Star Wars). Love how clueless he is in spite of being programmed to be intelligent. And his banter with R2 - priceless.

Cale Tucker (Titan A.E.). He's the cynic who learns to care - I love characters like that (like HAN).

The Cat (Coraline). He doesn't need a name because he knows who he is and he's so sleek and confident, just like real cats.

Catwoman (Batman). I love most of her incarnations, but I pick the one in the animated series since that's the one I love best. Sleek, sexy, and she knows how to allure Batman.

Charlie Brown (Peanuts). The ultimate underdog. He always comes so SO close to succeeding and yet almost never wins, but we always root for him anyway.

Chewbacca (Star Wars). Han's big furry buddy keeps him in check. Gotta love the way he roars too.

Collette (Ratatouille). She's strong-willed but also sensitive. LOVE her relationship with Linguinie.

Cookie Monster (Sesame Street). Who didn't laugh uproariously every time he went out of control with his eating?

Coraline (Coraline). One of the best portrayals of a child I've ever seen in animation. She can be whiney and yet selfless, fearful and yet courageous, self-centered and yet compassionate.

Count von Count (Sesame Street). "200, 200 wonderful characters, ah ah ah!"

Davey Jones (Pirates of the Carribean). I love how he's so of the sea. He's such a compelling villain.

Dobby (Harry Potter). So cute, so devoted to Harry. He's both a happy character and a tragic one.

Row 6:

Doc Ock (Spider-Man 2). Alfred Molina's performance gives the character pathos, letting us completely buy his transformations.

Donald Duck. I've always loved him with his wild temper and adorable voice.

Count Dooku (Star Wars) . I probably love him mainly because Christopher Lee plays him. His voice, man, his VOICE. Oh, and his duel with Yoda is awesome.

Dr. Doppler (Treasure Planet). I love how he defies the "goofy scientist" stereotype and shows how intelligent he really is. And he and Amelia make such a CUTE couple.

Dory (Finding Nemo). She's hilarious with her memory problems but also charmingly innocent and surprisingly deep.

Count Dracula (Dracula). Love him, espcially how Bela Lugosi plays him. He's the original vampire (and a zillion times better than stupid Edward Cullen).

Dug (Up). He's a talking dog, but he talks like how a real dog might talk if you could translate their thoughts and he's SO CUTE.

Professor Dumbledore (Harry Potter). The old wise wizard with a cheeky twist. Love his relationship with Harry and how he offers quirky pieces of wisdom.

Dustfinger (Inkheart). I have the picture from the movie, but he's more awesome in the book (though Paul Bettany plays him well). I love these rougue characters with a heart deep down.

Sr. Dydimus (Labyrinth). The little fox is so hilarious with his delusions of granduer and his oldstyle speech.

Edna Mode (The Incredibles). Gotta love how she's short in stature but intimidating in attitude. Her fast-talking is awesome.

Elastigirl (The Incredibles). Love how she can be both a superhero and a mom and they're both equally important to her. We need more moms like her.

Elini (Aveyond). You might not have heard of her, but the indie Aveyond computer games are awesome. She's a seductive demon summoner looking for a fourth husband to add to her harem of three. I love how her society sees marriage in a different way than most and her view of the world is influenced by that.

Elizabeth Bennett (Pride and Pejudice). She's feisty, caring, and she learns and grows from her experiences. Whoever says there weren't any strong females in fiction until recently has obviously never read Jane Austin.

Elizabeth Swann (Pirates of the Carribean). Wow, two characters named Elizabeth who were played by Keira Knightly. Anyway, she's just awesome. She's intelligent, charming, and she can make pirates bend to her will.

Row 7:

Ellen Middleton (Magical Diary). Another indie game you might not have heard of (but you should play it). Ellen is smart, studious, curious, but also a little rebellious.

Emile (Ratatouille). He's so adorable and I love how he offers a refreshing perspective. He's happy with whatever he wants to eat and isn't a gourmet.

Emily (Corpse Bride). She's dead, but she still has human emotions, and she has a sort of serenity about her.

Emma Woodhouse (Emma). She's cheeky and confident, but like Elizabeth, she also learns and grows.

Eowyn (Lord of the Rings). Sure, she has her moment in battle, but her strength of character comes from her determination and her dedication to her people.

Eris (Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas). The constantly size-shifting goddess plays with the world simply for amusment - and she's awesome when doing it.

Ernie (Sesame Street). He's so freakin' hilarious. He and Bert were my favorites when I was a kid and I still love them.

Eve (Wall-E). A robot who develops a soul and eventually saves the day. Love her voice.

Fenuglio (Inkheart). He is every writer in a nutshell. He's so absorbed in his world that he has trouble with the real world and he's constantly second-guessing himself.

Figaro (Pinocchio). He's SUCH A SWEET KITTY!! Plus he's black and white like my cat. (I'm an extreme cat lover.)

Flint Lockwood (Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs). The lovable inventor who longs to be accepted for who he is. I can identify with that.

Flo (Diner Dash). I love her perky, can-do attitude and her simple design with the messy hair.

Flynn Rider/Eugene Fitzhurbert (Tangled). Like Han, he's hilarious and rougeish but he also has a heart.

Fozzie Bear (The Muppets). He's so charming. Wocka wocka!

Fred Weasley (Harry Potter). Ah, my favorite set of mischievous magical twins. They're both hilarous and charming, though of course Fred has a tragic edge to him.

Row 8:

Frodo Baggins (Lord of the Rings). Poor guy. He carries such a burden and you're with him every step of the way.

Claude Frollo (The Hunchback of Notre Dame). Disney's most complex villain with such an awesome voice and chilling demeanor.

Gandalf (Lord of the Rings). Like Dumbledore (and yes I know Gandalf came first), he's wise, charming, and sometimes cheeky.

Garfield (Garfield). He's been part of my life for I don't know how long. I just love him so much, how he's fat and lazy and happy to be that way (just like my cat).

Garrett (Quest For Camelot). One of the few blind heroes in mainstream animation, he's a strong loner who learns to accept himself.

The Genie (Aladdin). I've laughed at his antics since I was eight. Robin Williams is a knockout.

George Weasley (Harry Potter). Like his twin, he's playful and appealing. Love how they both just enjoy the moment.

Gimli (Lord of the Rings). Mainly the movie portrayal, cause he's hilarious and I love his accent.

Gollum (Lord of the Rings). One of the most complex, pathetic villains ever. His obsession with the Ring made him insane and brutal, yet you can genuinely pity him.

Goofy. He's so hilarious.

Grace Augustine (Avatar). I love her because she's so smart and loudmouthed and she cares so much about her cause.

Gromit (Wallace and Gromit). Without saying a word, he displays so much intelligence.

Grover (Sesame Street). SO cute, how he drives himself (and others) crazy all the time but always with a winning attitude.

Gurgi (The Black Cauldron). I just wanna hug him and give him all the apples he can eat, especially at the end of the movie.

Rubius Hagrid (Harry Potter). He's a gentle giant with a big heart - often big to a fault when he extends it to dangerous creatures.

Row 9:

Harley Quinn (Batman the Animated Series). Innocent, dangerous, and awesome. Plus shipping her and Poison Ivy is so much fun.

Hedwig Robinson (Hedwig and the Angry Inch). Another awesome transgendered character who deals with the issue of gender idendity.

Heimlich (A Bug's Life). Love his German accent and his love of food.

Helga Sinclair (Atlantis: The Lost Empire). She's hot, tough, and awesome (God, I use that word too much).

Hermione Granger (Harry Potter). I love her so much, how she's so dedicated to her studies and how her knowledge often saves the day.

Hobbes (Calvin and Hobbes). He's so much wiser than Calvin and shows it in blatant, hilarious ways.

Hopper (A Bug's Life). Menacing villain with one of my favorite quotes - "First rule of leadership: Everything is your fault."

Uncle Iroh (Avatar: The Last Airbender). He's laid-back most of the time, but he can kick butt when required, and he loves his nephew through thick and thin.

Jack Skellington (The Nightmare Before Christmas). An animated hero who's actually allowed to make a major mistake, which is great.

Jack Sparrow (Pirates of the Carribean). Johnny Depp made the pirate cool again. He made Jack such a unique, awesome character.

Jane Eyre (Jane Eyre). She's smart, steadfast, and thoughtful.

Janet Bashkar (Date Warp). Yet another indie game you need to play. She's intelligent, outspoken, and a vegetarian like me.

King Jareth (Labyrinth). A celebrity role that works. He's fascinating how he's obsessed with Sarah and yet seems geuninely in love with her.

Jar Jar Binks (Star Wars). All right, I admit it, I LIKE JAR JAR BINKS and you can't stop me from liking him. He's clumsy and awkward, but he's cute that way.

Jessie (Toy Story). I love her energy.

Row 10:

Jigsaw (Saw). One of my favorite villans ever. He kills people in the most disgusting ways possible and yet he genuinely believes in his twisted moral code.

Jim Hawkins (Treasure Planet). He's a real teenager, angsty and yet sympathetic.

John Smith (Pocahontas). He and Pocahontas have one of the most moving love stories in animation and I love the way he grows and changes.

Jon Arbuckle (Garfield). He's klutzy but always lovable.

King Julian (Madagascar). The flamboyant lemur who has no idea how little he is - awesome.

Karen Eiffel (Stranger Than Fiction). Emma Thompson's performance got a writer's mind SO SO RIGHT. I really wanted her to win an Oscar.

Kayley (Quest For Camelot). She's charmingly naive but she's NOT a "dumbass in distress." She has to LEARN to fight, just like anyone else.

Kermit the Frog (The Muppets/Sesame Street). I love how he's the straight frog among all the chaos around him.

Kida (Atlantis: The Lost Empire). I love her curiosity and how she's so dedicated to her people.

Mr. Krabs (SpongeBob SquarePants). "Hello, I like money, ar-ar-ar-ar-ar!"

Kronk (The Emperor's New Groove). He's naive in such a lovable way.

Lady (Lady and the Tramp). My favorite Disney heroine from Walt's era. She's smart, loyal, and dignified.

Dr. Leanord "Bones" McCoy (Star Trek). Love his sarcastic attitude and how he doesn't hesitate to yell when he sees wrongdoing.

Princess Leia Organa (Star Wars). She's smart, feisty, sharp-mouthed, and awesome. Love her banter with Han - they're the most awesome couple ever.

Lilo (Lilo and Stitch). Love her quirkiness.

Row 11:

Lin Bei Fong (The Legend of Korra). Toph's daughter has her mother's attitude, determination, and spunk, and just like her mother, she won't take any crap.

Lock (The Nightmare Before Christmas). "Kidnap the Sandy Claws, lock him in a box, bury him for ninety years, then see if he talks!"

Loki (Thor/The Avengers). He makes a great villain. A changeling who turns against his real family and his adopted one because he feels scorned by both.

Lucy Torvill (Fatal Hearts). What do you know - another indie game! Anyway, she's an awesome, playful character who has an emotional side as well. And she's a lesbian - yay!

Lucy Van Pelt (Peanuts). The bitchy big sister - I was just like her as a kid.

Ludo (Labyrinth). He's sooooo cute! Like Chewie, he's a loyal friend. "Sarah friend!"

Luigi (Cars). Love his voice and his fanboy craziness.

Luke Skywalker (Star Wars). He's got a nice character arc without ever losing his optimism.

Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter). She's airy, distant, seems to live in her own reality, and yet she's also intelligent in her own way.

Lyra Belaqua (His Dark Materials). I love how she can be a brat but still be heroic.

Magneto (X-Men). He's a perfect example on how the oppressed becomes the opppressor. And Ian McKellen plays him. :D

Marianne Dashwood (Sense and Sensibility). Another of my favorite Austen heroines. She lets her heart rule her head and then she suffers for it.

Marina (Sinbad: Legend of the Seven Seas). She's hot, feisty, and witty.

Marisa Coulter (His Dark Materials). I love villains who are beautiful and charming with a hidden coldness about them.

Marjane Satrapi (Persepolis). I know she's a real person, but I couldn't keep her off the list. She's so multi-dimensional.

Row 12:

Maureen Johnson (Rent). She's energetic and unpredictable and SO FREAKIN HOT.

The Mayor of Halloweentown (The Nightmare Before Christmas). "Jack, I'm only an elected official, I can't make decisions by myself!"

Megamind (Megamind). He's a villain because he feels that he has to play the role. Something worth pondering when you think about it.

Mel (Aveyond 3). A game protagonist with real personality. She's immature and whiney, but she can also be heroic.

Merry (Lord of the Rings). He and Pippin offer their comic relief, but then they become innocents who grow from their experience.

Mike Wazowski (Monsters, Inc.). He's so incredibly hilarious.

Mittens (Bolt). A tuxedo cat! Me loves tuxedo cats!

Mother Gothel (Tangled). She's a sly sort of villain, she pretends to love Rapunzel for her ENTIRE LIFE just to take advantage of her magic hair. Talk about cold.

Mulan (Mulan). One of my favorite heroines. Sure she kicks butt, but she's also seeking herself.

Nani (Lilo and Stitch). Love her. She does her best to take care of her sister, but stress often threatened to overtake her.

Neytiri (Avatar). She's blue! Oh, and she's also clever and a strong warrior. And she's blue. :D

Nick Bottom (A Midsummer Night's Dream). I needed at least one Shakespeare character here, and Bottom is awesome, especially when Kevin Kline plays him.

Obi-Wan Kenobi (Star Wars). Young or old, he's an awesome Jedi.

Odie (Garfield). No brains, but a big heart.

Other Mother (Coraline). Another villainous mother who pretends to be full of love while disguising her vile intentions.

Row 13:

P.T. Flea (A Bug's Life). He's awesome because he's nuts!

Padme Amidala (Star Wars). She's such a strong, beautiful, dignified character - and she rules a planet at 14.

Emperor Palpatine (Star Wars). The ultimate baddie.

Petra (Emerald City Confidential). Yup, I love indie games. She's a sharp, no-nonsense detective with a cynical outlook.

Phoebus (The Hunchback of Notre Dame). I love how he can be both funny and serious without making either out of place.

Pippin (Lord of the Rings). Again, comic relief who gets to grow along with the others. Love his Scottish accent in the movies too.

Plankton (SpongeBob SquarePants). So much hilarious evil in such a little package.

Pocahontas (Pocahontas). One of Disney's most dignified and poetic heroines.

Poison Ivy (Batman). She's mainly here because I like to ship her and Harley, plus she's so seductive and alluring.

Professor X (X-Men). Super powerful psychic played by Patrick Stewart, what's not to love.

Puss in Boots (Shrek). Part swashbuckling hero, part adorable kitty cat, all awesome!

Quasimodo (The Hunchback of Notre Dame). One of Disney's strongest heroes. He's loving, creative, sacrificial, and wonderfully innocent.

R2-D2 (Star Wars). The most adorable droid ever!

Rabbit (Winnie the Pooh). I love his big temper and how he's so obessive-compulsive.

Rafiki (The Lion King). As you might have guessed, I love quirky sages.

Row 14:

Rapunzel (Tangled). Like Quasimodo, she's wonderfully innocent and creative.

Remy (Ratatouille). I love how incredibly passionate he is about his dream.

Captain Rex (Star Wars: The Clone Wars). He's a clone dedicated to his duty and he cares so much about his clone "brothers."

Rhen Pendragon (Aveyond). I love how she has such a sense of duty, even when she's thrown into danger.

Ron Weasley (Harry Potter). He's so lovable and also strong.

Roy Rooster (U.S. Acres). The U.S. Acres cartoons were aired as part of the original Garfield TV series (the ORIGINAL one, not the crappy CGI one). I love Roy the sneaky practical joker.

Sam Sparks (Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs). Yay, an animated heroine with glasses! She's super-smart, perky, and awesome.

Sam Manson (Danny Phantom). The goth girl who enjoys being dark and mysterious.

Samwise Gamgee (Lord of the Rings). Wow, three characters named Sam in a row . . . and my dad was named Sam too. Anyway, one of the most loyal friends ever, who follows Frodo quite literally to the ends of the earth.

Sarah Hawkins (Treasure Planet). She struggles so much with her son, but it's always clear that she loves him more than anything.

Sarah (Labyrinth). I love how she holds on to her childhood and how her character grows.

Scar (The Lion King). One of the most cold, slick villains in Disney history. He'll even take advantage of a grieving child - that's just horrible.

Scrat (Ice Age). Who doesn't love him with his eternal quest to bury his acorn?

Serrefina Pekkula (His Dark Materials). She's so beautiful and ethereal.

Shang (Mulan). He's mature, skillful, and yet he's also emotional.

Row 15:

Sherlock Holmes. I love any incarnation of him - the books, Basil Rathbone, Robert Downy Jr. - but for this meme I pick Benedict Cumberbatch's portrayal in the modern day BBC miniseries. Sure, we love him because he's so incredibly clever, but also because he lacks people skills. He's such a misfit.

Shmi Skywalker (Star Wars). She's such a dedicated mom and she suffers silently when she knows her son will be taken away.

Shock (The Nightmare Before Christmas). Yeah, don't make me sing Kidnap the Sandy Claws again, but I'll hum it. I love this trio.

Severus Snape (Harry Potter). Complex, cold, but caring. Awesome enough in the books, but add Alan Rickman's performance and you've got awesomeness.

Snoopy (Peanuts). Who doesn't love this guy and his many roles?

Sokka (Avatar: The Last Airbender). He's like a teenage Han - the regular guy without any supernatural powers who gets thrown into adventure and grows alongside the protagonist.

Spock (Star Trek). I love his logical demeanor and how he'll occasionally show his emotions.

SpongeBob SquarePants. He's optomistic and naive, just enjoying life. I love how he's a fry cook at a fast food reastaurant and he sees it as the best job in the world.

Stitch (Lilo and Stitch). Gotta love his michief and his voice.

Sweeny Todd (Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street). I love his tortured mind and his sadistic outlook (and JOHNNY DEPP!!).

Tarzan (Tarzan). The Disney incarnation is a three-dimensional character who's genuinely like an animal.

Te'ijal Ravenfoot (Aveyond). Most awesome (and hot) vampire ever!

Thor (Thor/The Avengers). I love how his character grows.

Tiger (Over the Hedge). He's a sweet, dignified kitty. (Huge cat lover here!)

Tigger (Winnie the Pooh). He's bouncey trouncy flouncy pouncy, fun fun fun fun fun!

Row 16:

Tony Stark (Iron Man). He's self-centered in an appealing way, talks the talk, but still cares. He's just awesome.

Toothless (How to Train Your Dragon). He's a dragon who bonds with a human, but he really acts like an animal (and resmbles a cat!).

Toph Bei Fong (Avatar: The Last Airbender). She's blind, but she's the most kick-ass character in the series. Love the "seeing with feet" concept.

Virginia Danson (Magical Diary). She's funny, outgoing, and crazy about junk food.

Lord Voldemort (Harry Potter). The big noseless baddie who actually succeeds in taking over the wizarding world before he's defeated, something a lot of villains can only dream of.

Wade Duck (U.S. Acres). Such a cute coward.

Wall-E (Wall-E). Okay, I said R2-D2 was the cutest little droid ever, but Wall-E is a very close second. Love his curiosity and his dedecation to Eve.

Wicket (Star Wars). I used to trash-talk the Ewoks, but after meeting Warwik Davis at Disney World's Star Wars Weekend I developed a new appreciation for them. Now I think Wicket's such a cutie.

Wolverine (X-Men). Tortured soul, indestructable claws, Hugh Jackman, what's not to love?

Woody (Toy Story). He and Buzz make such an awesome duo.

Yoda (Star Wars). Love him I do. Backwards he talks, awesome Jedi he is, wise advice he gives.

Yoshi (Super Mario Bros, Yoshi's Island, who knows what else). He's so freakin' cute!

Yzma (The Emperor's New Groove). An underrated, hilarious villainess.

Prince Zuko (Avatar: The Last Airbender). He's a tormented soul on a journey of growth.
